16 classified Life Motives
The American psychologist Steven Reiss classified 16 life motives that significantly drive our actions. The Reiss Motivation Profile® he developed is the scientifically based test procedure on which the motivation profile is based, in order to map out the most important life motives in their expression and to better understand your own motives for action.
Because in contrast to needs, which change over the course of life – at 21, for example, you usually feel more like into clubbing than at 50 – motives in life, i.e. WHY we (don’t) do or want to do something, remain fairly constant.
Where and why the Motivation Code is useful:
Especially as a leader, when transitioning in your career, or when dealing with partnership issues, it is worth taking a closer look at your own personality and the ones you are with. Because those who know themselves and are able to assess others, can view their personality with ease and use it purposefully. This self-awareness also promotes an understanding of the differences within a team, which is why it is also used in team compositions or recruitment processes.
Further areas of application:
- Personal Development: Gain deep self-awareness to align actions with intrinsic drives.
- Goal Setting: Set realistic, meaningful goals by leveraging the motives that energize and inspire you.
